My four year old daughter has been fully potty trained during the day for over a year, but still continues to wear a pull-up at night. I am officially tired of finding her soggy pull-up laying on my floor in the bathroom when I KNOW she is more then ready to stay dry through the night. She will have random days where she wakes up dry, and at this point - I’m pretty positive she pee’s in her pull-up out of pure laziness. It’s much easier to stay in your warm bed then to get up and use the bathroom (I get it sister!)
I know every child is different, but Madison is VERY incentivized by rewards (whether it’s toys or candy related). So I have decided to start a Potty Reward Chart. Once she has 5 dry mornings, she will earn a toy! Super simple. She gets to place a sticker on the chart when she wakes up dry in the morning, and once she reaches the fifth dry morning - PRIZE! She is obsessed with those weird LOLZ toys, so we went and picked one out from the store today. As you can imagine, she wants this toy BADLY now that it’s in our possession which has made for lots of conversations about how she needs to stay dry in her pull up to earn it.
Once she starts to earn a few prizes, I will change the terms so she has to be dry five mornings consecutively in a ROW. Once she accomplishes that goal, we will give UNDIES a shot. If she has five dry mornings with undies - PRIZE!
This potty chart could also be used for a brand new potty trainer as well. Maybe you offer a prize or a treat to your child once they use the potty five times. When my older two were potty training, they were very happy to earn a skittle each time they went pee on the potty! I wish you the best of luck and Godspeed on your potty training adventures. It’s not for the faint of heart - that’s for sure! To offer my help, feel free to download this printable Potty Reward Chart that I designed for my toddler!
